The 2017 harvest in Navarra was a very tough one. We suffered some frost and later on a extreme drought. It did not rain since June till the end of the harvest.
However once the 2017 harvest was over, about end of last year and all through the first quarter of 2018 we received a lot of rain and snow that brought in the ground the necessary
water reserves for a proper vineyard development and great plant recovery.
Favored by the good water reserve and a perfect climate, all varieties in all our plots made a very balanced maturation both alcoholic and phenolic. This year we have had a particular slow ripeness.
The 2018 harvest started with our white varieties on September 26. Small grapes with concentrated aromas, perfect ripeness balance and natural acidity so important in the Tandem fresh style.
We continued with the reds, the first Tempranillos were harvested at the end of September and the last ones on November 3 with an excellent quality. This is the latest harvest we have ever had. The rest of the varieties were progressively picked: Merlot, Viura, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Graciano.
Final impression: very good wines, beautiful color, fruitful aromas, floral, very expressive minerality.
Once the last grapes were safely at the winery started raining again which is good news for the vines.
Shortly in January we will start pruning and the cycle will start over again.
Have great Christmas!
Thank you for your continued support!
