TANDEM MICROclimate
The valley enjoys a continental climate influenced by the Atlantic due to its proximity to the Bay of Biscay. Winters are very cold and summers very hot. Unlike other areas in the D.O., summer nights are cool allowing the grapes to ripen very gradually. We harvest some three or four weeks later than the Navarra DO’s southern region.
Tandem’s grapes thus acquire a natural acidity which enables elegant and fresh wines to be produced.
These ideal temperature conditions, combined with a clay loam soil, good rainfall of 600 mm a year, strong winds and an altitude of 600 metres, allow us to obtain very healthy fruit in all possible weathers. The vines receive no irrigation, ensuring we achieve a better expression of the terroir.
